Jasper AI vs. Reality: Can It Really Help You Produce Quality Content?
There are a lot of AI tools out there, but we’re trying to find the best ones beyond ChatGPT. Jasper AI has been winning countless awards because of the productivity that it can offer as well as the user-friendliness of the interface.
As a copywriter, I wanted to dig in to see just how effective it could be – and how it could really help me produce quality content. There were definitely some features that were intriguing, so let’s get started.
What is Jasper?
Jasper is an AI content platform that identifies as a solution to streamline creative workflows. It is capable of helping with social media, advertising, articles, website copy, emails, and even art. There are over 50 templates that can be used and it can produce content in over 25 languages.
Jasper has won a variety of awards. It is also being used by a number of Fortune 500 companies.
One look at the website and you’ll realize that it’s a different type of AI – especially with the commercial that plays on the home screen.
Jasper promises that it can create the content you need 10x faster through artificial intelligence.
How Can Jasper Be Used?
Let’s start off by saying that Jasper offers a “Boss Mode” trial of five days so you can explore all of the best features. In order to get access to the trial, you have to enter your credit card. Then, after the trial, you’ll automatically be billed at a rate of $59 per month (Unless you sign up for an annual contract, then it’s only $49 per month).
Essentially, this means that if you don’t absolutely love Jasper, you better remember to cancel before the trial period is over. So, we don’t love that…
Still, once you get in to start using it, you’ll see that there are various use cases and templates that you can choose from. You’ll enter a title, a content description, and determine the tone of voice. The content description would be similar to the instructions that you offer your own content writer. And I’ve found the more you offer, the more likely you are to like the output.
There’s also a Jasper Chat, which is a new tool. If you need to ask a question or get help with something, the chat allows you to interact more personally with the AI so you can move forward with your task without getting frustrated and closing out of the program.
Although Jasper can be used in a variety of different ways, it’s most known for:
SEO-friendly blog content
Email marketing
Descriptions for products
Content rewrites
Notice that I didn’t say that it is known for producing editorial content or essays. I’ll get to that in a moment.
What Jasper Does Well
Jasper offers a lot of different features – and it’s obvious that the company is committed to creating a unique AI experience.
Jasper focuses on being conversational and user-friendly. For those who are intimidated by using AI, Jasper can be easy to use. There are also a lot of business use cases, so Jasper can produce content that is specific to a single industry.
There are quite a few impressive promises that come with Jasper, too – including getting SEO help that can land you on the front page of search engine result pages. If you don’t want to hire a content writer AND a search engine optimization specialist, Jasper can work as both. And the training is included in your monthly plan.
What Jasper Fails to Do
Jasper fails to make it easy to interact with it as a newbie to AI and prompt engineering. You’ll need to dedicate a full day to watching demos, training videos, and more before you’ll want to attempt to create a blog post or a social media ad.
To figure out the SEO side of Jasper, you’ll need to spend two hours going through six lessons.
There’s also the matter of the trial. You can’t jump on it and start playing around with the tool unless you’re ready to hand over a credit card.
Finally, Jasper doesn’t know about all of the current events unless you feed it all of the info that is relevant to what’s being written. For example, if you ask it to write about current events, it could be up to one year off – and that is obviously a problem depending on the industry you’re in and the kind of content you want to produce.
How Jasper Compares to ChatGPT
Jasper has a higher learning curve than ChatGPT because of the way that the templates work. You have to know how to navigate the 50+ templates to get what you want – and then you have to have the training to know what to feed Jasper to get the desired output.
Jasper is more than just content generation while ChatGPT focuses more heavily on content.
Essentially, Jasper can be your assistant to help with ideas, suggestions, and more. As the commercials show, it’s a bot that sits on your desk to help with anything you might need. Of course, it’s not a physical bot – but it is highly conversational so you can have it running in the background throughout your day.
There’s a fairly big difference in the cost. ChatGPT is free for research purposes while Jasper can be quite the investment, especially when you want to access Boss Mode.
Jasper is more user-friendly once you get through the training. And with the newest feature of Jasper Chat, the AI bot can tell you more about what you need even before you’ve finished all of the training.
Final Thoughts
Jasper is capable of producing some incredible blog posts, social media ads, and more. However, it’s a time-consuming learning curve. You’ll have to spend hours watching the various tutorials and training videos to understand how to provide the desired input into the Jasper AI tool.
Jasper is capable of doing it all – writing your words, providing you with SEO, and even adding AI art to whatever it is that you’ve created. In order to get it all, you’ll need to complete a few different prompts. Additionally, you’ll have to spend quite a bit of money per month to access all of the features.
Will Jasper work for you? Maybe. As long as you have the time to dedicate to the learning process and you don’t need content that is based on the latest and greatest events, it can be a time-saver. And the monthly access fee is certainly less than hiring a dedicated content writer
